In a message dated 97-04-29 05:46:05 EDT, you write:
<< The i1/i2/i3 (and presumably the i4S also) all have 340 mutisounds and the
i2 & i1 have an extra piano sample. Therfore all the i-Series are equal on
number of samples in ROM. Remember, it's sample memory that's important not
PROGRAM RAM. A PCG on any i-Series must occupy exactly the same RAM because
it defines an finite set of parameters which distiguish that PROGRAM. >>
Be that as it may, the resolution of i-1, 2 and 3 are ALL much higher than
the resolution of other i-series boards. Bandwidth is key here. It doesn't
take a rocket scientist to put an i-3 next to a 4, 4s, 5 or 5m (or even an
ix300) and a/b them...and it doesn't even take a musician to tell that the
resolution of even the 3 (not to mention the 1 and 2) blows the others away!
